Mardi Gras Parade Every year Kids Count host a Mardi Gras Parade for the parents. Even our toddlers participate! It is a family activity that requires the parent’s to help the children make floats from shoeboxes, decorate wagons, or decorate tricycles to ride in the parade. The teachers make masks as an art activity in the classroom. It is loads of fun and a hit each year! We are Louisiana proud at Kids Count!
Easter Bonnet Parade Our parents truly enjoy participating in family events. The Easter Bonnet Parade is another example of a family affair. Parents work with their children in creating the most amazing paper plate creations for their children to "show off" in this annual spring event.
The Week of the Young Child This week is dedicated to our wonderful children. It is their favorite week of the year filled with activities just for them. From mix-match dress day, crazy hat day, to rock and roll and poodle skirts all staff members and children participate from the infants to the preschool. The week is culminated with a "Hug a Child Today" balloon launch.
Muffins for Mom On the Monday after Mother’s Day our moms are treated to a special "Breakfast N’ Babies". They are invited to have morning muffins and refreshments with their child and his or her teacher. The mother’s can mingle and share their thoughts with each other and their child’s teacher.
Donuts for Dad Our dads are thanked for the great job they do just like our moms. What better way to say thanks than a "Dunk a Donut" with Dad day. Our dads arrive early to enjoy warm donuts and refreshments with their child and his or her teacher.
Halloween Carnival The carnival is Kids Count’s annual party for the parents and children. For over 20 years our families, friends, and staff have enjoyed this event. From face painting and clowns to ponies and haystacks the children wear their costumes and share their favorite family treats at this funfilled fall event.
Pre-K Thanksgiving Skit and Feast Each year the preschool class puts on a skit titled "The Mayflower" for their parents. After the skit all enjoy a pot-luck dinner with each family bringing their favorite family holiday dish. It is a great time of sharing and giving thanks…..especially thanking our families for sharing their child with us!
Christmas Festival Santa arrives at Kids Count with a ton of snow for our children to enjoy along with their family and friends. The staff members participate helping the children make snowmen, toss snow balls, and have a blast decorating cookies! Parents and teachers share their favorite dishes and exchange recipes.
